The Ajanta & Ellora “caves” in Maharashtra, India are one of many archaeological wonders that we cannot today even explain how it was accomplished. The sheer magnitude and complexity of these marvelous sites is a spectacle to behold. In Ellora there are 34 rock-cut Buddhist, Hindu and Jain temples and monasteries, with the most amazing being the Kailash Temple. Ajanta, about 100 km away from Ellora, has 29 Buddhist temples and monasteries, built between 2 century B.C. and 5th century A.D. Both sites are Unesco World Heritage Sites.
